HOLLYWOOD LIFESTYLE DESIGNER BARCLAY BUTERA
BECOMES OFFICIAL SUNDANCE PROVIDER,
HELPS PRODUCE OPENING NIGHT
“AN ARTIST AT THE TABLE”
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 2010) – Lifestyle designer Barclay Butera, as a new Official Provider of the Sundance Film Festival, is honored to help create Sundance’s Opening Night: An Artist at the Table. The sold‐out fundraiser on January 21st in Park City, UT, celebrates the importance of independent artists and their stories, and includes a cocktail reception, dinner, live entertainment by award‐winning Sundance Composer Fellows, and attendance at the Festival’s premiere screenings at the Eccles Theatre. Butera will engage his signature mix of textures and patterns to produce an elegant evening that also reflects the stunning snow‐white exterior of Park City.

“I have participated in a number of events during Sundance, but helping produce Artist at the Table for the acclaimed Sundance Institute is a huge honor and very exciting. I love film and I admire the organization’s impressive nurturing of talent,” states Butera, President and CEO of Barclay Butera Inc. “Especially because I work with an extensive list of celebrity clientele, it is important for me to be able to celebrate their creativity and can give back to the entertainment community through what I do.”

Butera—who has had a home and one of his retail showrooms in Park City since 2003—understands the magic of the color ‘white’. The event’s décor has a base of white but with regal accents of red, blue and leopard print velvet throughout. “The blue stained windows of the space produce an especially beautiful reflection on the white, which has the effect of connecting the outside white from the snow with the indoors,” observes Butera.
The designer will place eight pyramid‐shaped candelabras with a series of candlelit hurricanes flanking the entrance and balanced throughout the venue. Amidst this elegant theme, Butera has created a symmetrical ‘grand’ entry by placing his Paris‐lounge inspired Brentwood Settees in red linen in a linear approach to the cocktail area. Specially‐prepared white woven linen drapery will display the Artist at the Table logo embroidered in red. And, as with all that Butera does, decorative pillows will add a richness, as well as tactile and visual engagement, to the scene. Pillows will be in blue velvet, leopard print, and a rich blue/gold/red satin stripe.
The theme of involving the senses continues through dinner. In the center of each table will be two clear hurricanes with crystals inside, holding white candles, and a vase of fragrant white tulips with red dogwood branches. The tables are covered in a navy blue lamour tablecloth with antique gold sparkle overlay, and the napkins are in gold lamour.
Butera’s involvement with the Sundance Institute launched in June 2009 when he hosted that month’s salon for filmmaker Robert Epstein and the Sundance Institute Film Series at his Park City showroom. In past years during the time of the festival, Butera has been involved with The Creative Coalition, Hollywood Life, Western Interiors & Design magazine, Queer Lounge, the Egyptian Theatre Co. (for which he held a fundraiser), as well as with the Los Angeles Times, WireImage the Utah Film Commission, HP and L’Oreal.

For Immediate Release / FALL 2009 HIGH POINT
Media Contact: Julie Du Brow / +1 310-821-2463 tel / julie@dubroworks.com

BARCLAY BUTERA HOME OFFERS QUIET SOPHISTICATION IN DEBUT OF ‘GRAMERCY PARK COLLECTION’ AT FALL HIGH POINT MARKET

ON HEELS OF DESIGNING THE FIRST ROOM IN OVER 50 YEARS AT FAMED HEARST CASTLE, BUTERA ADDS ‘SAN SIMEON CHAIR’ TO COLLABORATION

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 2009) – This Fall, national lifestyle designer Barclay Butera tapped the “City” section of his Living in Style book for inspiration and created the “Gramercy Park Collection” for High Point Market introductions. Named for the exclusive Manhattan park, where a key is required to enter and enjoy this haven within the city, the Collection celebrates the world traveler / city dweller who enjoys all aspects of the arts and high culture of a big city, and requires an elegant and subtle palette against which to showcase their personal collections. The “Gramercy Park Collection” can be seen at High Point Market: The World’s Home for Home Furnishings (Oct. 17-22), Interhall #IH102. As an extension of this concept, Butera will showcase new pieces from his continued association with the Hearst Castle Collection®, reflected in upholstery and pillows.

The color palette of the “Gramercy Park Collection” reflects a quiet sophistication through its tonal fabric selections that include taupe, bronze, chocolate, gold, cream, butterscotch; variegated stripes with texture and sheen; menswear-inspired textiles including bold houndstooth, large-scale paisley & windowpane plaid; supple leathers, plush velvets; touches of Butera’s characteristic textured animal prints, tone-on-tone woven patterns and classic solids.

For this Fall, Barclay Butera Home is proud to present all new at High Point Market:

Park Avenue Bench
Generously-scaled bench, an elegant, ‘collected piece’ of a well-traveled couple, possibly for base of bed. Sophisticated tufting and dark turned leg are standard; nailhead is option (extra). Shown in Kipling Bone leather (Gramercy Park Collection). (60”w x 20”d x 22”h)

Essex Ottoman
Regency inspired ottoman with distinctive double “X” base with stretcher for additional strength. Tufted attached pillowtop with contrast welt added as signature Butera design detail. Tufting and fully upholstered base are standard. Most effective shown in pairs; perfect additional seating for conversational great room. Shown in Savoy Tobacco Velvet fabric (Classic Collection) with Contrast Welt in Savoy Bay Rum (British Colonial). (24”w x 18”d x 20”h)
San Simeon Chair
Known for his collection of wing chairs, this is Butera’s newest addition to his collaboration with Hearst Castle Collection. Modeled after originals purchased from Bullock’s Wilshire for Mr. Hearst’s North Wing suite, this modified wing chair features cutaway arms that echo the rolled detail on the wingback, as well as a current twist on a traditional pleated arm detail. Transitional and ideal for lounging, chair features classic tapered leg with carved relief detail and attached pillow back. Shown in a textured striped velvet, Edwin Cream (Gramercy Park Collection). (33”w x 36”d x 40”h)

Bradford Chair
Generously proportioned lounge piece, comes standard with tufting and turned legs with casters. Similar to Newport Chair, but deeper and taller. Shown in Butera’s characteristic animal print while still remaining neutral. Fabric: Giraffe Natural (Gramercy Park Collection) (32”w x 36”d x 32”h)
In other news, Butera is touring luxury design centers nationwide, lecturing on “Decorating in the New Economy” to packed rooms filled with those in the design trade. The tour is tied to the launch of his Kravet Collections line of textiles, as well as his selection of original designs for Tufts by Kravet Carpet. Barclay Butera Home - "Harbor Collection" Press Release

BARCLAY BUTERA HOME DEBUTS UPBEAT, AMERICANA-STYLE ‘HARBOR COLLECTION’ AT SPRING HIGH POINT MARKET

BUTERA ADDS TO LINE FOR ‘HEARST CASTLE COLLECTION®’

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 2009) – This Spring, national lifestyle designer Barclay Butera is optimistic and wants to share that outlook. There’s been a shift: months ago, people began to nest because they had to, and he was attuned to that with his soothing colors in Fall. Now, he believes, people are enjoying nesting voluntarily, realizing how nice it is to nurture one’s home environment and create a haven, and also hearken to an earlier time, and a more primary color scheme. To that end, Barclay Butera Home launches the Americana-style “Harbor Collection” at High Point International Market (April 25-30), Interhall #IH211. Additionally, Butera will showcase new pieces from his continued association with the Hearst Castle Collection®, reflected in upholstery and pillows.

The color palette of the “Harbor Collection” includes navy and indigo blues, ocean and sky blues, crimson reds, deep gold, wheat and brown. The textiles feature a variety of striped patterns—many of a nautical ilk—plaids, and of course textured solids.

For this Spring, Barclay Butera Home is proud to present all new for High Point Market:

Taylor Wing Love Seat – Clean-lined club chair feel, inspired by BBH popular Taylor chair, has elegant details such as a traditional English arm, turned legs and casters with slight wing-chair feel, while meeting an increased demand, in this case, for slipcovered furniture. Comes standard upholstered with bench cushion. Shown in Harbor Collection’s Decking Stripe Indigo/Cadet. (72”w x 32”d x 32”h)

Lido Host Chair – Host chair features tight seat and tailored legs. Butera plays with classic designs and modern elements, adds slight wing detail and slight flair of arm. Standard with bracket base and nailhead detail. Shown in Harbor Collection’s casual Mazarin Nautica. (32”w x 31”d x 34”h)

Lucia Chair—Barclay Butera for Hearst Castle Collection®
Butera and Hearst Castle Collection® are selectively adding to the line with this occasional chair, with slightly curved back and flared arm, patterned after one in the Casa Grande at San Simeon. The rooms in Casa Grande were more modern in style, reflecting the changing interior design styles of the times up through the luxurious Hollywood design of the 1940s. Upholstery exhibits taste of 1940s era, and features the modern detailing of Butera’s style. Standard with tufted detail, nailhead, turned leg and casters. Shown in Harbor Collection’s Piazza Wheat. (34”w x 38”d x 39”h)

Harbor Sofa -- Loose back sofa with rolled arm and carved bun feet. Large nailhead applied around inside back and around base of sofa; and small nailhead applied on arm posts. Shown in Harbor Collection’s Glynn Linen Crimson Red. (90”w 40”d x 39”h)

Butera’s creative collaboration with Kravet is rolling out. His selection of original designs for Tufts by Kravet Carpet—richly textured and hand-tufted—are out and available now. And his four-book, 300 SKU fabric collection for Kravet Collections will be launching June 2009, creatively merchandised in four lifestyle themes ala Butera’s Living in Style coffee table book (Assouline): Beach, City, Mountain, and Town & Country.
